Senate Resolution 26
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING P. SANDERS "SANDY" MCNEAL OF JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, FOR BEING RECOGNIZED AS AN HONOREE AT THE MISSISSIPPI WOMAN '99 CONFERENCE.
WHEREAS, Governor and Mrs. Fordice are hosting the third annual conference to recognize women in the state who are outstanding volunteers in their community, which is entitled MISSISSIPPI WOMAN '99: THE "POWER OF ONE"; and
WHEREAS, P. Sanders "Sandy" McNeal is one of this year's honorees; and
WHEREAS, Sandy McNeal is proof that artists can succeed: her desire is to mentor others and teach them that a person can support herself or himself while pursuing artistic talents; and
WHEREAS, her creative influence is felt throughout Mississippi and her work hangs in private, public and corporate collections in the United States and Europe; and
WHEREAS, Sandy is known for donating her artwork for charitable purposes and her notable honors include the "Governor's Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts" and being a recipient of the "Art for Heart" honor presented annually by the Mississippi Chapter of the American Heart Association; and
WHEREAS, Sandy says her work is a combination of giving and taking, is especially proud of her three women shows which reflect the artist's experiences in countries of the world, and the commissioned painting she is most proud is "The Rehearsal" which hangs in Thalia Mara Hall; and
WHEREAS, Sandy gives credit to her parents for her tenacity and belief in her talent and to her husband's support and confidence in her; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this outstanding volunteer whose service has meant so much to her community and state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate P. Sanders "Sandy" McNeal of Jackson, Mississippi, for being recognized as an honoree at the MISSISSIPPI WOMAN '99 CONFERENCE.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Sandy McNeal and Mrs. Pat Fordice at the conference awards banquet on March 1, 1999, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
